PORTVILLE, NY - A Portville woman was seriously hurt after she was attacked by her own dog.
Troopers say the dog escaped a fenced-in yard and Hopkins was trying to return the dog to the yard when she was attacked.

Apparently dogs not this womans best friend
a 125lb Doberman vs. a 66 year old woman. Not a time to joke. She was mercy flighted to Buffalo.
I got worked over by a Doberman once scared the sh_t outa me. they say a pitbull is bad I think Dobermans are just as bad.
Would like to know the WHOLE story. If she was using excessive force or hitting the dog to make it mind, than yes, it would turn on her in defense. Of course, nobody is going to ADMIT to misusing a dog. And dont' give me crap about a poor old 66 year old lady. I am 66 years old and weigh more than a 125# dog. If she was good to the dog he would love her and NEVER turn on her. I am sorry for her injuries and hope she will be ok but everybody is always ready to blame the animal and don't even know what really happened. It just doesn't make sense.
There are no bad dogs. Just bad people who did not treat them well and didn't train them. Sorry for her injuries, but there are no "bad breeds" of dogs. Sorry, folks.
Dream on folks. There certainly are "bad" dogs, although it may not be their doing. I love dogs but have been bitten for no reason by "good" dogs. A 125 lb doberman that turns violent is a danger to anyone around. You guys watch too much Dog Whisperer.
Dobermans can become mean when they are older because their brains keep growing after their skulls stop growing and it causes alot of pressure and pain to them. I am not saying this is what happened here but sometimes there are other reasons that a dog turns on their owners that have nothing to do with abuse.
There again man has changed and bred dogs to what they want them to be. could this be something we humans have messed with and caused unknowingly?
There ARE bad dogs. Last week, a lady up the road was killed by a pitbull and was witnessed by her young grandkids. Awful.
Maybe we can include dogs when we ban scary looking guns and clips that hold more than 1 round
