Snowshoe Lacing Workshop
Lacing your own snowshoes makes a great family project! Create a family heirloom or just have fun learning with guided, step-by-step instruction. You will also get information on the heritage of snowshoes from ancient survival to modern-day recreation. Choose fully functional models or smaller ‘minis’ that are perfect to decorate your den. Just interested in the how-to? Select the instruction-only option. See examples of kits at http://snowshoe.com.
Be advised that this workshop is designed to introduce the methods of lacing, and the amount of time required to lace snowshoes varies greatly. It can take from 3 hours for ‘minis’ to 12 hours for full-sized kits.
This course is taught by Tim Morey and is scheduled for Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Potter County Education Council’s Coudersport office. The cost is $145 for the adult snowshoe kit and bindings and includes the workshop. The cost is $35 for the ‘mini’ kit and workshop. The cost for the workshop only option is $10 and $5 for each additional family member. To register, call (814) 274-4877. To allow for ordering, registration and payment are due by January 18, 2013.
