Wayne LeRoy Corbett, 74, of Crosby, PA

Wayne LeRoy Corbett, 74, of Crosby, PA, died Wednesday (January 16, 2013) in the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.

He was born May 1, 1938 in Crosby, a son of Thaddius D. and Grace Ilene Pixley Corbett. On October 22, 1960, in Crosby, PA, he married Betty J. Lathrop, who died April 11, 2009.

Mr. Corbett attended Smethport Area Schools and served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1959.

Mr. Corbett was employed as a welder by North Penn Gas Co., now UGI, of Port Allegany, PA for 42 years, retiring in 2001.

He was a member of the Crosby United Methodist Church, was past President and Fire Chief of the Norwich Twp. Fire Dept., a member of the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby and the Frank Bert Post #258 of Port Allegany, the Loyal Order of Moose # 460 of Port Allegany, was a 50 year member of the McKean Lodge #388 F&AM of Smethport, and was a past member of the Smethport Ambulance Association.

He is survived by:

two sons: Lane (Terry) Corbett of Smethport and Roy Corbett of Crosby

He was a proud “Pop-Pop” to his Grandsons: Michael and Ryan Corbett, both of Crosby, and Kyle Burton of Clearwater, FL, and his Granddaughter: Staci Corbett of Smethport.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore Corbett.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 1 P.M., with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Norwich Cemetery, Colegrove. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport.
