Bus Service Available In Potter County

Bus Service Available In Potter County

atabusArea Transportation Authority of Northcentral Pa. has embarked on a public relations campaign to make people aware of its service. Many Potter County residents are unaware of the fact that those familiar ATA buses they see on area roads can provide transportation at a reasonable cost for shopping, doctor appointments, employment and other activities. Those 65 and older can qualify for a reduced fare through Pennsylvania Lottery revenues.

ATA has launched “Call A Bus,” encouraging people who want to learn more about local bus service or schedule a ride to call a toll-free telephone number: 1-866-282-4968. Brochures explaining riders’ options are available at the Potter County Commissioners office at the Gunzburger Building.
Brochures detail the following schedules:

Coudersport (including Cole Hospital, Sweden Valley, Jenkins Hill, Roulette, Olmstead and other areas) — 9 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday; additional hours of 7:30 am to 9 am from mid-September to mid-May.

Galeton (including Germania and other areas) — 10 am to 11 am and 1 pm to 2 pm; additional hours of 7:30 am to 8:15 am and 3 pm to 3:30 pm from mid-September to mid-May.

Ulysses (including Harrison Valley, Genesee, Mills, Bingham, Mills, Andrews Settlement, Elmer, Hickox, Ellisburg and more) — 9 am to 11:30 am, and 1 pm to 3 pm, Monday through Wednesday.

Shinglehouse (including Sharon Center, Millport and more) — 9 am to 11 am, and 1 pm to 2:30 pm, Monday through Wednesday.

(ATA has asked readers to please call 1-866-282-4968 or check back on Potter County Today later this week for scheduling information in the Austin and Roulette areas.)

Do you mean to tell me that I could have been riding on these buses all along for like the last 25 years? WHO THE HELL IS IN CHARGE OF PUBLIC RELATIONS HERE BECAUSE I NEVER KNEW THESE WERE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!!??!!!

Once again Austin is left out....

My kids used to play a game called "Count the Passengers on the ATA Bus." When a bus approached the object of the game was to guess how many people were riding. Jennifer always guessed "zero" and she almost always won the game. I also never knewe these were open to the public. I thought it was for Senior Citizens and the Handicapped or for the Human Services Programs.

I've notice Austin have been left out of alot of things... I believe the county thinks they just get a check donated to them from the Austin area and wonder why. For a town that had history, seems that nothing wants to.come through. I would like to.see people ask that council to start pushing for Austin to be included in just 10% of things county does for its 17000 people

Writer 12:56 I think that ATA is in 6 or 8 counties and is run out of Ridgway so probably that is where you need to direct your comments. I don't think the county runs this program.

Three quarters the damn town of Austin is Senior Citizens, What gives??? So not fair-----AGAIN!

It says to call the 800 number for information on rides in the Austin area and if you are a senior citizen you get a discount, too. If you have a question for crying out loud just call and ask instead of whining on here about how Austin is being ignored.

If i ran ata i wouldn't send a bus to Austin for 1 or 2 people. As far as the Austin borough council go's good luck getting them to do anything to help the town. It's not on their agenda never has been!

While we're aon it, the Austin Boro sure could use some seat changes, as well as the School Board!!

I thought Austin was wiped out during the damn break. lol

On a serious note, this is a great service.

Why, then, when my mother tried to get a bus to take my father (Who's 89) to the dentist, was she told there was no such service, I wonder? They live in Ulysses and the dentist is in Coudersport!
