Improvements, Additions To Potter County Website

Improvements, Additions To Potter County Website

mousekeyboardMore improvements have been made to the Potter County website, aimed at making county services more convenient for the public while improving efficiencies with the county government. The site is available at (specific pages can be found under a “Departments” tab on the landing page).

Most recently, Director of Elections Sandy Lewis has posted a listing of all of the offices that are up for election this year in each township, borough and school district. Several interactive features are available, including online purchasing of dog licenses, remote access to records from the Recorder of Deeds office, downloadable forms for the Homestead Exemption from real estate taxes and others.

Developed by the Potter County Commissioners, the site features phone numbers and email addresses for county and municipal officials; current and archived information on the county government and Potter County in general; the Potter County Board of Auditors report on county financial records; minutes from business meetings of the Potter County Board of Commissioners; downloadable copies of the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance; archived copies of the Shale Gas Roundup and Potter County Veterans News newsletters; links to information on benefits and other services for military veterans; downloadable applications for Small Games of Chance licenses and other features. Soon, a new website for Potter County Human Services will be launched and incorporated on

Internet users are encouraged to bookmark the site on their home computers. The new site complements a separate web-based service for information from or about the county government, Potter County Today. Together, the two information services deliver timely information, updated on a daily basis, as well as connections to many other sources.

This is impressive and appreciated.

I don't think the county should be doing this communicating like this because it's such a big conflict of interest (you need to see a previous comment on here from the other day to appreciate my sarcasm). Why should we want to make things convenient for the citizens when we're just some backwoods county with people who don't know anything.

This is all good stuff but I wish the commissioners would give credit to the people who actually make this happen instead of making it look like they're the ones getting these things done. Why not give credit where credit is due? Isn't that what good leaders do? There are some very hard working, dedicated county employees who get these things done. How discouraging it must be to see every good thing done by the county credited to "the Potter County Commissioners."
