NY State Police Find 450 Pounds Of Marijuana

On Thursday, February 7, 2013, the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) and Troop A members arrested two Jamaican nationals, 37-year-old Calvin A. Bennett of the Bronx, NY and 29-year-old Roderick R. Johnson of Rochester for criminal possession of marihuana in the first degree.

The arrests, which took place in the Town of Clarendon, Orleans County, are part of an investigation into the trafficking of marihuana in the greater Rochester area.

At the time of their arrest, Bennett and Johnson were found in possession of a container that held a few pieces of office furniture and 9 cardboard boxes. Each box contained a large, wrapped bale of marihuana that weighed approximately 50 pounds, for a total of 450 pounds of marijuana.

Both men were arraigned in the Town of Clarendon Court and remanded to the Orleans County Jail in lieu of $200,000 cash bail.

The State Police were assisted with this investigation by members of the Orleans County Major Crimes Taskforce.
