Parked Vehicles Plowed By PennDOT Truck

A PennDOT plow truck driver got a little too close to 2 parked vehicles at 5:30 AM on Wednesday and sideswiped them.

Patrick J. Mitchell, 47, of Smethport, PA, was not injured when he sideswiped a 2000 Doidge Intrepid and a 1990 Ford F-150 that were parked on West Main Street in Smethport near Franklin Street. Trooper Andy Dalton said moderate damage was caused to the left sides of the parked vehicles.

First time, okay.... It was a mistake but should still be held accountable. But, to hit a second vehicle just down the street, you have no business being in that truck! Know you're darn limitations and how far you're wing plow reaches dummy.

I am suprised that this doesn't happen more often...my hats off to thosetruck drivers..we all pick on them when we drive by them in the summer....six men for I plugged twelve inch drain pipe...lol but they definitely have their work cut out for them come wintertime

Give them a break. People are stupid. There is a car parked on Main St in Port Allegany and they have to plow it in day after day because they won't move it. After a few days it looks like a big snow pile. I ask someone why they left that big pile of snoe there and they said there was a car under there. About the summer. How would you like to have to jump out of the way for stupid drivers. There was one killed last year and one permently injured because of a driver under the influence of drugs. You need to look at how many road workers are killed in a year and I'm sure you would not be in their shoes. Penn Dot You do a great JOB. Thanks

Take a cill pill 8;23, I'm sure he will be held accountable for his mistake, befor you start criticizing & calling someone a dummy, accidents do happen, we all make mistakes, I'm assuming you are an adult & some example you set by calling someone a dummy Shame on you, when you make your next mistake I hope someone is there to call you a dummy!!!!

God bless these state workers, I would not want their jobs, They are damned no matter what, we all make mistakes, we were not there & we have no business condeming the guy & he will probably be discplined for his MISTAKE! I commend them for the GREAT job they are doing!!!!!

8;23 go get yourself a truck driving job, better yet a spnakin brand new yellow one that say 'The Dept of Transpotation" on it! & plow the roads, maybe , just maybe you will not make ONE MISTAKE!

These vehicles probably needed some new body parts anyway ! LOL But seriously, maybe there were cars coming in the opposite direction and he was attempting to avoid an accident. Who knows. It's not a big deal. So he sideswiped a few cars...that's what insurance is for. And at 5:30 in the morning ya gotta wonder if these were permanent fixtures on the street anyway.

At least he was plowing!

Here's the deal folks. Do you know there are more penndot workers killed at work every year then state police in PA. Also the powers that be are alot harder on the penndot workers then any other state run agency for example if you work for penndot and happen to get a truck stuck it is viewed by the state as a traffic accident. Compare what the state pays the police to what they pay penndot not to mention the gross difference in benefits and let me know if it fair.

PennDot is welcome to come to the Binghams and plow anytime they want and don't have to worry about parked cars on the roads. Seems they have been absent again up here.

i seem to have read that snow plows in pa. are exempt from any damage they cause WTF

Anonymous said...

So, they park their cars on a main street and they get side swiped? And since he was plowing im assuming that the roads were bad, therefore someone else could have very well slid into/sideswiped their vehicle to to the roads, therefore get over it! Accidents happen.

If he hit 2, imagine how many he DIDN'T hit!!
Truth is, everyone has a bad day once in a while. Overall, I have to give these PennDot guys credit. It's easy to bitch, but just like all state workers, teachers, gov. workers, lately it seems as though people see them as an enemy of sorts. How did that happen?
If you ask me, it's the freakin Republicans. They want to bust unions in the name of 'the taxpayer', but in reality they're scared to death that people will donate and vote D instead of the party of "NO".

Some people would "complain" if they were handed a New Rope to hang themselves with!!!

Best read closer 9:55, That pertains to Mail Boxes which are on Penn DOT rightaway, But they still try to repair them even though they don't have to.

Democrat or Republican The Unions are the down fall of our country. People that don't want to do a good days work hide behind them OH YOU CAN'T FIRE ME I BELONG TO A UNION AND THEY WILL PROTECT ME. I don't have to do my job today I'm having a bad day. They have to give them a warning then 3 days off then a week off etc and by the time they could be fired they are 65. Been there done that. Unions are just like welfare give give give.We need to go back to the good old days when you work and put in a good days work or go down the road. Nowdays there are alot of people wanting work. Also it should be Not who you know in high places but how good you work

Don't worry Penn DOT they'll soon be fracking, putting wind mills up, or offering teachers raises and the complaint wagon will turn.

i hope winter never comes then you will be happy to see that yellow truck with the plow on the road but remember they dont have to carry a med card like the rest of us professional drivers maybe they should be tested like the rest of us and get the less than professional off the road and on the couch were they belong

1:13,, AMEN,, You are absolutely correct.. unions and their members are worthless.

Anonymous said...

Worthless? How about you get out there and plow the roads yourself. My dad is a penndot worker, and he stays out past midnight making sure roads are safe for YOU! He's been there 2 years and only makes 13.84, so tell me they are overpaid and worthless. The main point of mitchell is that this isn't the first time he's hit something. He's hit light poles, ect. He needs retrained. But remember when your driving at night and those "worthless" penndot drivers are out making your spoiled self safe!
