Ruth A. Cummings, 98, Bradford, PA, formerly of Mt. Jewett and Titusville

Ruth A. Cummings, 98, Bradford, PA, formerly of Mt. Jewett and Titusville, passed away Sunday (February 10th, 2013) at the Bradford Ecumenical Home Following a brief illness.

Born June 9th, 1914 in Mt. Jewett she was a daughter of John and Hannah Lantz Nelson. On July 22nd, 1947 in Titusville she married Harold “Dutch” Cummings who passed away on January 19th, 1987.

Ruth was a 1932 graduate of Mt. Jewett High School and later graduated from the Westbrook Academy in Olean. She had resided in Titusville until moving back to Mt. Jewett in 2010.

She had been employed as a secretary at the Titusville Iron Works prior to being married.

Mrs. Cummings was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Titusville for many years where she was a member of the Lutheran Women, sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.

Ruth and her husband loved gardening and being outdoors. She also enjoyed doing crafts and was a member of the Craft Club.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Edwin, Arthur, Wallace and LeRoy Nelson; five sisters, Florence Edeen, Mildred Gustafson, Iola Johnson, Arlie Peterson and Julia Quinlan.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette (Pa).

Arrangements are under the direction of the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
