I hear the officials played a big part of this game.. I wasn't there but I was at the Girls game on Thursday and the officials play a part in that game to. I really don't care who wins or loses but sometimes it just gets so dam frustrating when things aren't kept under control. Congrats to you Smethport.
Lot's of questionable offensive fouls called on both teams by the officials. Overall, officials did a great job. I was at the game and am not a CC or Smethport fan! Teams don't play to their potential at times and unfortunately, some people always have someone else to blame. Looks like it is the officials this week!
Try running down the court at full speed and trying to stop running into someone! And YES, there was an offensive foul called on this play along with many others for both teams, so the officials did have it under control! Don't make assumptions if your not there to see the actual game.
Hey, I was there and the refs called a good game overall. Smethport is the better team and they proved it 3 times and I am a Big Red fan. Sometimes you gotta just take off your hat to your opponent. One thing that pissed me off was we had the same banner sign like we took to every game this year and all it says is, Dildine Power for the Big Red RAIDERS! The PIAA game manager made us take it down and says "That's inappopriant. No banners for playoff games." What the hell difference should it make????! They let Port Alleganys cheerleaders have their banner all season long in football so what is the difference?
They need officials .... The test is given several times a year PIAA.org
Block vs. Charge call is all jugement and position for the official...... people like you with great judgement and i am sure great position are needed ........ PIAA.org
It was a tough physical game. When it gets to playoff time its officiated different than the regular season depending on the crew. The other night in Emporium they called everything, last night they "let them play". Teams need to be able to adapt to the crew. Smethport was more physical and CCHS just couldn't match their intensity. When you get out rebounded and don't handle the defensive pressure and give up easy baskets it bold well for you. Great game played by the Hubbers and CCHS is young and talented and will be back in the same position next year I would expect.
That road to Hershey is a dead end road for the Hubbers. It will be Jburg and N. Clarion for the Dist title.
Thank you 1:18 that info will save me from taking a day off to go to the game on tuesday
Good game both Smethport and Emporium There is sure a lot of talent out there
I was at the game & Smethport did out play The Raiders, BUT, there were 3 Ref's & ONE did almost ALL of the call's???????? The other 2 may as well of sat in the stands! And before the season even starts ALL Coaches go to a Rules & Interputation Meeting. This year they were told there will be NO HAND CHECKING, well there was plenty of it from The Hubbers, as well as in games all season. So much for, THE RULES !!! I agree, J. Burg will be the next winner.
I think both teams played a great game...and should be proud of their accomplishments. I WAS at the game and I think the refs were fair...fouls were equal on both sides. As far as Smethport is coming to a dead end...I guess time will tell. As far as I'm concerned, win or lose, those boys had a great season and should be commended for their hard work, dedication and most importantly..their sportsmanship!!
