A Unityville, PA truck driver died early Tuesday afternoon after falling from his truck while attempting to tarp his load of lumber near an Emporium lumber processing company.
John B. Johnson III, 48, of Unityville, PA, had just received a load of lumber at Emporium Hardwoods on Route 120, 1/2 mile east of Emporium in Shippen Township, Cameron County, PA.
Unityville is north of Bloomsburg, PA.
Trooper Douglas C. Homan, who investigated, said at 1:55 PM Johnson drove his truck and tractor combination to an empty lot just north of the lumber yard where he stopped to tarp his load. While making adjustments to the tarp. Johnson fell from atop the load and sustained fatal injuries.
Johnson was pron0ounced dead at the scene by Cameron County Coroner Ted Walters.
