Ulysses Couple Not Seriously Hurt In Crash

Poor Road conditions on Friday at 11:00 AM on North Hollow Road , just off Route 49 in Allegany Township contributed to an accident involving a Ulysses couple.

Josephine M. Hill, 75, and her passenger, Robert A. Hill, 75, of Ulysses, PA, were traveling west in a 2003 Ford Explorer on Route 49 and made a left turn into North Hollow Road, when the vehicle began to rotate counterclockwise. Josephine over corrected, causing the vehicle to rotate clockwise, leaving the roadway to the west.  It then traveled down an embankment striking a fence, continued 100 feet through a field before coming to rest on the embankment off the west side of North Hollow Road, according to Trooper Brian Ladick who investigated. Both occupants were wearing safety restraints.

Josephine Hill suffered minor injuries, Robert was not injured. Coudersport EMS and Fire Department assisted at the scene.

I"m glad no one was hurt but could you just imagine at 75 years of age and losing control of your car I'm sure doing fun donuts fifty some years ago just didn't come back to them so that controlling the car was possible.

If they would have continued down North Hollow Road, they would have had the opportunity to test their defensive driving skills with all the massive patches of ice covering the entire southbound lane.

I'm glad they are ok.

How about at least putting out a cone or two Penndot? Is it too much to ask. This problem is nothing new.

DOT has been slacking on the secondarie roads this year, and we only had half of a winter! Gotta love Corbett!

I filed a complaint with Penn Dot in Harrisburg about how badly roads in the Ulysses area are maintained. Guess it didn't accomplish much. More people should complain....until they do, secondary roads aren't important enough. What Harrisburg doesn't realize it that most of us travel these so called secondary roads to get anywhere in the area. We don't have interstates.

Others have mentioned Ulysses roads being poorly maintained. No comment here. Just happy this couple
