Ulysses Township Meets/Discusses Proposed Frack Wastewater Plant

Residents asked questions at the Ulysses Township meeting Wednesday night about the proposed frack wastewater plant to be located on Route 49 in Ulysses Township. Previously published information stated the plant plans to eventually hire three or four local employees for each of it's three daily shifts and will be permitted for up to 700 trucks a day. This meeting was a total sham. No one even should have bothered to show up. The outcome was determined by a person with "special interests" before the vote was even taken. I hope everyone enjoys the 150 + extra trucks rolling through the county. and I hope you enjoy paying higher local taxes for road repairs - because the person who "fixed" this vote surely won't be doing it.

so how did it go? Those supervisors listened to your concerns, right? And they'll go ahead and do what they want anyway.

9:37:00 I'm sure the article from a magazine named "Processing: Solutions For The Process Industries" is going to give an unbiased report BTW. When I cut and pasted I got "Page Not Found"

sad situation here If twp supervisors would have voted NO then there would be a lawsuit against the township and they would not only win it would come in anyways so like it or not either way it was going to come in thanks to DEP....and as for the roads some of the bad roads you can thank the PSP...why you ask...because they do NOT enforce the restricted weight limit , they enforce stop sign's yield sign's but not weight restriction sign's . (and no those roads are not bonded by the trucks that are on them)so don't bash Marc and Dick there was nothing they could do

Do you armchair warriors realize that the superiors and planning commission of Ulysess cannot single out a specific entity, gas exploration or otherwise, and deny them the right to drill, fracture or process provided that they adhere to the state and federal regulations? Even if they have zoning in place, and this land was not zoned as industrial, they would NOT be able to stop the process without it being overturned in court. They can set forth certain requirements over and above that of the regulatory agencies, but they cannot prohibit it if those additional measures are performed as required. In the long run they would spend thousands of tax dollars defending their decision but would lose in the end. I have looked over the plans for the plant and as it is set up at this pont it is a zero discharge facility. The trucks will be a nucense and If there is a collision on the roads during transport, there will be a terrible tragedy, but no more of a threat than the loads of other chemicals and pollutants, toxins, and radioactive materials that already traverse our area for decades. If you are going to protest based on the what ifs that I just mentioned, you need to protest them all, not just this one. Desirable no, risky yes, intentional disregard for public safety absolutely not.

Who is the chill baby chill pony tail dude?

PSP's fault for the roads. Now that is some funny stuff right there.

PennDOT can only put up the sign's it is not there job to enforce the law's poster 1:48

I love how people continue to be so against any form of drilling. I bet they didn't walk there happy asses to that meeting.

Anonymous said...

Everyone complains about the unemployment rate but with the oil and gas coming into these areas its promoting more job! do people ever quit complaining

Anonymous said...

You people just dont seem to get it the supervisors spend cuontless hours on this stuff go to the meetings and listen to what people have to say and do what they can do with what is given them for what a hole big pay check of $75.00 per month .So all of you people want sit back and bitch go ahead but when your township roads are dusty and the pot holes have become large enough to swollow the hole car get out and fix it yourself because you want to complain about the way things are done and the supervisors have given up on there volunteer jobs because they are sick and tired of being shit on .If you want to spend all of your extra time doing stuff for constant bitchers that dont like anything new going on I am sure marc or dick would be more than happy to let you have thier supervisors spot. The real matter hears is the supervisors hands are tied and there is no way to stop things like this plant dep permitted it.

Anonymous said...

Stan from ulysses why dont you make the world right again and become a supervisor see how much fun that job really is or is better to complain the supervisors of ulysses township do a great job

Anonymous said...

Once again , the Ulysses township supervisor chairman sold the land to his son for the fraking water plant. He also is the founder of the wind turbine scheme. Why do you think he wants to be a supervisor? How did you think the vote would go. The other two supervisors always use the excuse that they will get sued. What good are a couple of men with no backbone to protect the township and it's people. That is why they were elected. They have failed!!!!

Anonymous said...

Didn't we see the Chill Baby Chill dude protesting the Windmill farm issue, Just saying these people go from one protest to another.

Anonymous said...

So are you an investor or a lawyer for the industry? Obviously one of the two. "dont fight it because you will lose" Who the hell do you think you are. This is OUR home. We don't care how much money you have or where you came from or what your intentions are. We know you scumbags lied and took advantage of the gullible, promising them riches knowing DAMN WELL it wasnt true. We know about your bullshit "safe development" propaganda. We know who you are and what you are about. We know that your home and family are nowhere near facilities like this or any sort of frack operations for a reason. And I will tell you this and you can mark my words, take them as a promise and not a threat. You take all of us "armchair warriors" and "backwoods idiots" for fools. Let me tell you something, go ahead and spend your money and get your "recycling facility" (dumping station). Because if you think a protest is a thorn in your side you havent seen anything yet. I am one of many that will do everything in my power to make your lives a living hell and cost you more than it will be worth to be here. I will not go into detail but you know damn well that 1 "accident" will shut your place down. So keep pushing your bullshit on us. You think you own us? Watch and see.

700 trucks a day...30 trucks per hour. So thats a truck every 2 minutes? What a joy this will be...

Anonymous said...

Folks, I cant even say I am sorry for you. You should have had the balls to stand up and say no when they had the leases in your faces promising you money. You dug it, now lay in it

You sure are a smart fellow arent you?

why isn't the township getting any tipping fees from this operation ?

Vicki said...

FYI to all of you Anonymous posters the protesters that attended last nights meeting do NOT live in this township or Ulysses boro. They came from areas such as Roulette, Shinglehouse, Bolivar and Alleghany County. From what I saw most of the people that attended this meeting that do live in the township and boro were for this plant! And the reason I say this is not one of those citizens that does live in the township or boro spoke against it when they had the chance to do so. I think there were about 47 of us that attended and all questions were answered and a lot of things were explained by David K. These businessmen did NOT request a permit for 700 trucks a day, period. I have no idea why this keeps being harped on. Based on the information they provided to DEP and Penn Dot the permit was issued to them that states 25 to 700 trucks a day may enter the plant. I think the protesters that attended last nights meeting are more upset with the gas industry in general and are against fracking of the wells.
I think the 3rd party engineer that gave his report at the meeting did a very good job. This shows us all that the men that sit on this board have not for one minute taken this matter lightly and for that I thank the all!

Boy I don't know about you Jim but this post sure looks like it is a form of your guide lines as being:

"Messages that harass, abuse or threaten other members;"

But I could be wrong!

Vicki, Some of the 'out of town' citizens have PhD's. They have education, training, and knowledge.
They attended out of concern for YOUR HEALTH and the health of others.
You should be thankful.
I'm not from Ulysses and this is MY BUSINESS.The facility is planned for exceptional value watershed. That watershed is the property of all Pennsylvanians.

Vicki, Your right! "a lot of things were explained by David K." One of the things he explained was how it would be SAFER to recycle waste at the well site!

Wendy said...

To the Feb.14th 5:50pm blogger..your threat that you posted about an "accident" happening and making "lives a living hell", you are no better than the water treatment plant that you believe is supposed to be such a threat to the people. Do you realize the danger that you will put people in if such an "accident" does occur? You then are just as bad... NO WORSE, then them. I hope you get caught and sit where you belong !! If you are so bold to post such statements, than how come you didn't sign your name to it?? You are nothing but a COWARD !!!

Anonymous said...

Says right in it "dont take this as a threat"

Vicki said...

For the 2 Anonymous posters that remarked on my statements ~ Sign your name, if this is how you feel don't hide!

I did not say I did not find some of the information to be informative did I? With that being said do not preach to me how thankful I should be!

And as far as being able to recycle waste at the well site because it is safer you are right. Now finish the rest of David's statement, they would have liked to do it this way but can not because the the gas industry will not allow it. That is why there is a need for this plant.

what vicki sherwood forgot to tell you is her boss is preston hoopes..jims son..hummm
and the last i knew a public meeting is just that for the public .this concerns everyone not just ulysses residents.why alot of the local did not attend is because they were told since all permits and everything that was needed from DEP there is nothing the people could do since it is hoopes land and he has all the paperwork to proceed so if the supervisors voted no then the township would be sued so it was said...so vote yes and let it come in or vote no , get sued and it will still come in thats what the people were told. maybe the supervisors should have a stipulation that if any violations are commited then this get's shut down.

Some so-called educated folks that love to spout their 'intelligence' by using PhD have no concept of common sense. They just spew their personal thoughts and call it educated! So, drill baby drill, take your PhD and protests somewhere else. Ulysses Township can handle their affairs just fine. Keep up the good work Marc and Dick. You certainly don't deserve the harshness directed at you.

Anyone living along the Rt 6 <> RT 44/49 corridor has a stake in this. The town of Ulysses does not exist in a vacuum.

What you do in Ulyses has consequences for your neighboring towns.

So, No, Vicki, I am not going away anytime soon.

Anonymous said...

For poster 4:41. As for you saying the other two supervisors have no backbone I beg to differ. Marc Bennett is the only one of the three that has any backbone at all. Jim is in it for Jim and Richard Erickson is going to do what ever Jim tells him to do.

Please finish David's statement, "but since the gas industry does not want it on their site this is the alternative".

Wendy said...

Anonymous feb 15th 5:40am, It says and I quote "mark my words, take them as a promise and not a threat" , Your words have been "marked" and when I was raised, A promise was something that definitely happened, and is stronger than a threat ! You people want to be "heard
but are still cowards by not signing your name to your posts.. what are you afraid of? You are the ones that have no backbone !!

Dee said...

Looks like Vicki and Wendy are the only ones willing to sign their names to their statements.
Well I know Vicki Sherwood and have know her most of my adult life. I do not care who she works for she has never been a "yes" person ever in her life. If she does not feel strongly about something she would not go to bat for it, EVER!
You people makeing remarks to the poeple that are willing to sign their names are shameful, man up or put the key board away. Why don't you want them to know who you are? Unbelievable is what it is.

Anonymous said...

Wtf? My real name is anonymous!!!! Should I make up a name so you all feel comfy and cozy?

Anonymous said...

Because names like Dee, Wendy, and Vicki are much better...I know lots of folks with those names. Im going to be pissed at all of them because they dont believe what I believe. Your all scumbags. You should all post your addresses and phone numbers if you want to run your mouths. How is it any better with just a first name?

Wendy said...

YAY! Way to go Dee. Thanks for being woman enough to put your name to your statement !!

Vicki re: "but since the gas industry does not want it on their site this is the alternative"
Embellishing Dave K's statement won't win you points.

You people are always bitching about the Gas Industry people tearing up the roads and all of their trucks running the roads, what about the Logging Industry? They carry MUCH heavier loads, are really ripping up the roads and they have been around much longer than the Gas Industry and doing it for years. Don't hear of them fixing up the roads after they are done.

Solomon's words for the wise said...

You're barking up the wrong tree gas man> Our log truck drivers have operated responsibly for years. They know when they can travel the roads without damaging them. They bond the roads and are responsible for damages if they occur. They don't run 24 hours a day when the roads are easily damaged like your trucks directed by gas drilling companies. You would be smart to take a lesson from the log truck drivers on how and when to drive.

Anonymous said...

Thanks Jim. Ive never heard of a load of radioctive logs. Or a load of logs that could cause damage to the planet for thousands of years if something did happen. And these drivers were born and raised here. They know our roads and our weather patters. Unlike many of these "water"truck drivers that for many this is the first snow they have ever seen.

1) most of these people are spineless or scared ! They do not want to be black-balled from work or made a target of the township!!
2) Is a list of ALL the chemicals & warnings being made available to all the residents in the area for 200 miles?
3) Are your Grandchildren going to play next door to this project when it is put in or are your grandchildren going to be living in some other state? I would feel better if your children are gonna be barefoot right beside my children in the creek in 10 years!! This will prevent our children playing barefoot in the creek!
