Shelvadean “Deanie” Snyder, 76, of Austin, PA

Shelvadean “Deanie” Snyder, 76, of Austin, passed away in her home with her loving family at her side on Monday, March 25, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born April 14, 1936 in Normalville, she was a daughter of Augustus and Dollie Eicher Richter. On December 27, 1957 in Normalville, she married Jake R. Snyder, who survives.

Mrs. Snyder attended St. John School in Hawkins Hollow. She had been employed at the former Motorcoils in Emporium and later was employed as a nurse’s aide at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport.

A longtime resident of Austin, Mrs. Snyder was a member of the Austin United Methodist Church. She enjoyed flowers, playing bingo, and bird watching. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving besides her husband are a son, Donald Roy (Deb) Snyder, Sr. of Coudersport; a daughter, Bonnie M. (Brad) Yeaney of Summerville; four grandchildren, Donald Roy (Crystal) Snyder, Jr., Heath (Candace) Snyder, Brianne N. (Derrick) Daughtery, and Brandi R. Yeaney; two great-grandchildren, Douglass Snyder and Jessie Jo Snyder; two sisters, Kate (Luther) Nase and Arlene Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Snyder was predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor Fullem and Thelma Shipley; and three brothers, Augustus Richter, Jr., Wibert Richter, and Lester Richter.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Austin United Methodist Church, Turner Street, Austin with the Rev. Steven D. Small, pastor of the Southern Potter United Methodist Charge, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Austin United Methodist Church, PO Box 8, Austin, PA 16720; the Austin Ambulance Company, PO Box 328, Austin, PA 16720; or to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
