Construction to Continue on McKean County Bridge Project

Bridge on Columbia Hill Road in Wrights Corners to be replaced as part of Public-Private Partnership

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project continues in McKean County in September with the reconstruction of a bridge in Keating Township.

The state-owned bridge (JV-70) is located on Route 1015 (Columbia Hill Road) and spans the North Branch of Cole Creek near the village of Wrights Corners. It is currently weight-limit posted at 33 tons for single vehicles and 40 tons for combination vehicles. Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove the weight postings. Replacement will also remove the bridge from McKean County’s structurally deficient list.

Construction is expected to begin in September and be complete in October. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Route 46 (Rew Farmers Valley Road), Route 646 (Summit Road), and Route 246 (Looker Mountain Trail).

In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.

This bridge replacement is part of the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, a Public-Private Partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP) under which PWKP will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years. The P3 approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.
