First Presbyterian and Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church of Galeton, 8-21-16

First Presbyterian and Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church of Galeton, 8-21-16

by Martha Pennell,

Galeton Food Pantry opens Friday, August 26th, at 10 am at Saint Paul’s Lutheran church. Anyone having garden produce to share may bring it by 9:30 am, or contact Carol Smith (435-1108) or George Raymer (435-2215).

A public meeting of GalePride, Inc., will be held Thursday, September 1st, at 7 pm in the Christian Education building of First Presbyterian church. The purpose is to brainstorm ideas providing educational, cultural, and positive improvement activities that will strengthen Galeton youth and adults. Please come to share your ideas, and spread the word about the meeting!

In a synagogue on the Sabbath, Jesus placed his hands on a woman that had been bent over for 18 years. She straightened up and praised God (Luke 13: 10-17).

God anointed Jesus to preach good news and set the battered free. Jesus creates new people; we all need him in our lives.

In his sermon, “Straightened Up,” Pastor Tom told us keeping in touch with Jesus is to observe the Sabbath. A woman is free because she went to worship on the Sabbath.

We all need Jesus in our lives on Sunday in church. He straightens things out, wonderful things happen to people on the Sabbath.

Pastor Tom explained our body is a universe to itself. Wonderful things happen in us and around us all the time. We have a wonderful world.

Do not get hung up on the negative and divisive stuff; do not let them set the tone and direction of our lives. Let Jesus do it! Receive his mercy and grace; he straightens us up from time to time.

Get straight by Jesus’ unchanging love; it is one of God’s greatest gifts.

Come to Jesus! Thanks be to God.
