First Presbyterian and Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church of Galeton, 8-7-16
by Martha Pennell,

Grapevine articles are due to Robin Leach by Tuesday, August 9th.

Germania Luncheon club meets at Collins Memorial Park Wednesday, August 10th, at noon.

Plan to attend the ice cream social at Saint Paul’s Lutheran church at 2 pm August 14th. For a two dollar admission fee there will be games, prizes, bingo, and make your own sundae!

Pastor Tom told us there is kingdom building work to do for us to be ready for Jesus to escort us to the banquet—he will serve those who are ready.

Suggestions for a kingdom building attitude are: respect everyone, do not regard strangers with suspicion, be friendly, consider success to be doing good, volunteer, donate to charity, pick up trash, say grace in a restaurant, be confident, and be ready for the banquet.

Pastor Tom’s sermon, “Kingdom Living,” was based on Luke 12: 32-40 (do not fear, it is your Father’s pleasure to give you the kingdom, save your riches in heaven, be ready, the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect).

Fear can ruin an attitude, does not move us toward good purpose, and can paralyze us.

Have no fear, Jesus is near!

It is God’s great desire to give us the kingdom. He is with us and invites us to be residents of his kingdom. Have a kingdom mindset. Do every day what he expects us to do. Do not let possessions possess us.

If we chase money, we will be its slave, but if we chase God, we will be free.

Do not be afraid to live in the kingdom. Look forward to the banquet. As residents of the kingdom, we should be ready for Jesus’ return!
