Galeton August weather report

I believe the best way to describe Galeton's August weather is that we have once again had a beautiful summer weather month, It has been a dry summer, however it has been nearly perfect for all summer activities, except for lawn mowing. No need to mow because the grass has taken a growing brake. However, after a few showers mid month the grass did grow at a fast rate making up for lost time. Let's all get those lawns looking like golf courses once again. My notations for the entire month were sunny beautiful days, some cool mornings and several days when the humidity levels increased. It was 46 degrees at 7am on the 23rd

We received 3.37" of rain in August, last year we received 2.13". We are well behind the normal amount of rain for the year . Pine Creek is very low and algae is still on Berger Lake. The average high is 74 degrees and the average low is 51 degrees. We had several days well over 80 degrees during the month. We had 15 foggy mornings and five thunderstorms. None were severe, in fact most were noisy with little or no rain.

I am sure we will eventually catch up with normal rainfall, we always do, in the meantime Fall will soon start with cooler temperatures and our hills turning color.
