WELLSBORO—Hamilton-Gibson Productions is holding open auditions for "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," a radio play-styled performance of the classic tale by Washington Irving.
For this scripted radio play, the Warehouse Theatre at 3 Central Avenue in Wellsboro will be transformed into the WBFR Radio Studio. Using only voices, music and sound effects, the cast of 12 performers will create the tiny hamlet of Sleepy Hollow in the year 1789, a rustic town bound by traditions, leery of strangers, and haunted by tales of ghosts. Gabe Hakvaag will direct.
Performers will be reading from the script in front of a microphone. Although there is no memorization, performers need to be able to read clearly and in character. Male and female performers are needed; all ages are invited to audition. The ability to perform accents and a variety of “voices” is a plus, but not required. Actors will also learn to perform sound effects using special props and devices.
Auditions will be at the Hamilton-Gibson office at 29 Water Street in Wellsboro on Friday, Sept. 9 from 6:30-8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10 from 2-4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 11 from 6-8 p.m.
Performance dates will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27, 28, and 29 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 30 at 2:30 p.m. All performances will be at the Warehouse Theatre.
"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" is sponsored by Dr. Rick and Karen Doganiero and Drs. Maria Cruz and Edgar Wong.
