Potter DA, Andy Watson, Announces Potter County Municipal Police Have Naxalone/Narcan

The Potter County District Attorney, Andy J. Watson, is pleased to announce that Potter County’s Borough Police Departments have been approved for and are currently carrying Naloxone/Narcan.

The Naloxone/Narcan is a nasal spray that is easily administered to individuals who suffer from an opiate induced overdose to reverse the effects of respiratory depression. The substance has been reported throughout Pennsylvania to have successfully saved numerous lives and revive addicts from near death experiences from opiate overdose.

The District Attorney has worked closely with the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association, Michelle Mathers with Coudersport EMS, Dr. Glenn Williams, and Potter County Chiefs of Police to acquire an ongoing prescription for the Naloxone/Narcan.

Each department, consisting of the Coudersport Borough Police Department, Shinglehouse Borough Police Department, Galeton Borough Police Department, and Sweden Township/Roulette Township Police Department have each been issued two doses of the Naloxone/Narcan for emergency use. Further doses of the Naloxone/Narcan are maintained at the District Attorney’s Office for emergency situations.

While the East Drug Task Force, consisting of many officers from our local police departments, will continue to aggressively investigate and make arrests on the heroin epidemic, law enforcement realizes the importance of saving addicts’ lives and helping them obtain treatment through the C.L.E.A.N. Protocol whenever possible.

Anyone with questions on Naloxone/Narcan can contact the District Attorney Andy J. Watson at 814-274-9450.

"You hope trump outlaws this stuff?"
I'm sure you do little one, I'm sure you do. Unfortunately, this election has shown us the ignorant underbelly of our society. Racist, homophobic, narrow minded people who believe everything that is force fed to them. Ignore Hillary and all of the cute little monikers trump has taught you. Research all of his flip flops pandering to his audiences of like minded folks. Name calling? Mocking the disabled? Making fun of a female's menstrual cycle? Has filed for multiple bankruptcies but still calls himself a "great" "wonderful" "brilliant" businessman? Calling a FEDERAL judge unqualified because his grandparents lived in another country? Is that the hate mongering, narrow minded poor business person you want to lead YOU? I'm sure you do little one, I'm sure you do....

You hope Trump outlaws the stuff that reverses drug overdoses and saves lives? You're one of those who would rather see drug addicts die I guess.

and who has to pay for this shit? let me guess, the working taxpayer, those who have to take a piss test every so often, so they can continue to work to pay for it...right? oh and hey 8:59 you need to remove your head from crooked hillarys a$$ and see what the real world has to offer

I'm sure state police will be there for the concert, but if you know of specific things going on or people with drugs, call the police instead of complaining that they do nothing...

You may think it prevents overdoses and saves lives, but in actuality it is a VERY expensive enabler for drug addicts. There is always the risk of overdose, but drug abusers do it anyway and now the risk is lessened because they have NARCAN to bail them out so they can shoot up again next week. All on the tab of John Q Taxpayer!!!

Yep, let's be sure to save the overdosing drug users free of charge while people die from anaphylaxis because they can't afford an epipen. Maybe police should carry epipens instead of Narcan.

Anonymous said...

Yep, you sure are right Ole Jimmy, this will be just repetitious with the addicts now they'll be fed the Narcan

OMG....you all are about the dumbest people in the world, what does getting drug dealers and addicts off the streets and into rehab have to do with this years political disgrace of an election....get a grip people. I am proud that our county officials in law enforcement are involved is such great programs as CLEAN and the East Drug task Force...make Potter County safe for our Children !!!!!!

Ain't no love quite like "conservative" love....

Yes, welcome to God's country...NOT!

So sick of the RACE CARD and so is everyone else. You've exhausted it.

Trump is not a racist or bigot, suggesting such only proves your true ignorance.

Go after the drug companies and politicians over the EPIPEN controversy...not law enforcement, I agree with 8:33 you are a bunch of dummies...These drug companies are making it very difficult for the elderly and others to get the medications they need because they jack up the prices to pay off the politicians who give them special treatment. Please, lets do something positive and support those who are trying to make things better in Potter County and keep our children safe....

So embarrassed/mortified to live in a community with this "no one deserves a second chance to get themselves clean" and "everything is a cause for a political debate" mentality. Honestly, I could move but, it's everywhere. Newsflash people, at one time in our lives, we've ALL screwed up...maybe it wasn't drugs but, I don't believe anyone can say they've never done anything that impacted their lives in a negative way or something that was just exceedingly stupid. You're all very quick to jump on the judgmental bandwagon though!!! Just for the record, even though the Clinton/Trump posts have absolutely NOTHING to do with the local police departments being issued NARCAN, please note that BOTH CANDIDATES SUCK EQUALLY...one is selling our collective souls to the devil himself & getting richer off the profits and the other will probably get us blown off the planet...the only commonality here is that addicts make and the candidates are BAD CHOICES.

Yes!!! EpiPens better be carried.

The Christian love in Potter County makes my eyes well up....

This isn't going to help with the opiate epidemic in potter county sadly to say . I agree it's an enabler , the addicts way of thinking is completely different of that of a normal thinking person .
Fact of the matter there are no real recovery programs established in helping the youth stuck in this epidemic .
Truth of the matter no one here knows what route to take in battling this . Y'all want to buy new cop cars and fire trucks and everything else but truth of it all , you need to build a strong youth and young adult recovery program with strict drug testing and recovery program . Before this epidemic truly destroys the youth in this area .
A lot won't agree and that's okay but before it gets better it will get 100 times worse then it is .

Actually, the DA received a grant from the state DA's Association I believe, so this comes at no cost to the taxpayers, county or police forces.

Four police departments in Potter County, all are part time departments. What is this going to prove. East Drug Task force. Consist of 6 officers. Who are you really attempting to kid here.

Anonymous said...

Yeah and the task force has taken down some of the bigger dealers in the county. They're doing a lot despite being so few people.

I guarantee none of you would be saying these things if a relative of yours was experiencing an overdose and police had the ability to save them. People do recover, you know.
