Reita J. Lucy, 87, of Gaines, PA

Reita J. Lucy

Reita J. Lucy, 87, of Gaines, PA, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, NY. 

Born April 28, 1929 in Peoria, IL, she was a daughter of the late Sumner J. and Blanch A. (Merritt) Davis. 

US Air Force Veteran
Reita was a graduate of Arlington High School, Arlington, IA. On November 4, 1950 in Waterloo IL, she married James E. Lucy, who survives. 

Reita was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force. 

 She was a legal secretary for many years in Orange County, NY. 

Reita was a member of the Hillcrest Seventh Day Adventist Church, Mansfield, PA and a member of the Tuscarora Woodhull Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of New York. 

She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, canvas needlework, playing the organ and had an extensive stamp collection. 

Surviving in addition to her husband, James E. Lucy, are three sons, Steven (Dorothy) Lucy, Medina, NY, Kurt V. (Betty) Lucy, Sedalia, MO and Eric K. (Julia) Lucy, Lancaster, PA; three daughters, Rita A. (Patrick J.) Dann, Whitesboro, NY, Karen L. Fritsche, Montoursville, PA and Patricia J. (Larry) Curfmann, Wallkill, NY; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held at the Hillcrest Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 14677 Rte. 6, Mansfield, PA, on Sunday, August, 21, 2016 from 1:00-3.00pm with funeral services following at 3:00pm. Military Honors will be accorded by the Tioga County Honor Guard. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Galeton, PA.
