Road Work Update for McKean and Potter Counties, Week of August 22

Bradford, PA – A Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) road improvement project that began in May will focus efforts next week in McKean and Potter Counties. The project will bring improvements across more than 16 miles of road surfaces in the two counties and provide smoother, safer travel for regional motorists. Both counties will see additional improvements in the form of more than 45 miles of roadway sealcoating.

PennDOT expects the week of August 22 to feature work at the following locations:

· Sawing and sealing on Route 646 from Cyclone to Aiken on August 22.

· Sawing and sealing on Route 219 from Shepard Runs to Owens Way August 23 through August 24.

· Paving on Route 6 from Sweden Valley to Potato City August 22 through August 23.

· Shoulder backup from Sweden Valley to Potato City August 24 through August 26.

Work zones feature a daylight alternating traffic pattern, controlled by flaggers in the roadway. Short travel delays should be expected. All work is weather and schedule dependent.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $5 million job, which is expected to finish by the end of September.

PennDOT will issue updates on work locations for this project as progress allows. Drivers are reminded to use caution in all work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
