Seven students receive Portville College Scholarships

OLEAN, NY, August 9, 2016— Seven students recently received scholarships from the Portville College Scholarships Fund managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.

The fund, established by Portville College Scholarships, makes possible scholarships for students who volunteer at the school store or annual Portville College Scholarship phonathon fundraiser.

Marissa Seib received an $800 scholarship. Seib will attend Niagara University to study history and political science with a concentration in pre-law.

Emily Hall, Grant Milne and Siarra Shaw each received a $400 scholarship. Hall and Shaw both will attend SUNY Geneseo to study biology. Also studying biology, Milne will attend Thiel College.

Gavin Colligan, attending Thiel College to study chemistry, received a $100 scholarship. 

Seanna Jobe, studying wildlife biology at Houghton College, received a $250 scholarship. 

Lydia Lukomski, who will study pre-med at Gannon University, received a $600 scholarship.

Portville Central School students received $13,775 total in scholarships, including those from the Portville College Scholarships Fund, from CRCF this year.

Established in 1994, the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation is growing good by connecting donors to the causes they care about most in the region. Grants from the foundation support many areas, including education, scholarships, health care, the arts, community development, human service, and youth development.
