Shirley Marie Frederick

Shirley Marie Frederick, 78, of Galeton, PA, passed away on August 8, 2016. 

She was the oldest child of Lawrence and Leardina (Melegari) Frederick. She was born on March 16, 1938 on Turkey Foot Road, Boston, PA. 

She graduated from McKeesport High School in 1957. 

Shirley was a caregiver who took care of many elderly people for 40 years in Wellsboro, Galeton and Roulette. She also was a volunteer at Soldiers & Sailors Hospital for 25 years. 

Shirley is survived by her sister, Judy (Dennis) Garner of Mansfield; sister-in-law, Carol Frederick of Sheboygan, WI; nephew, Chris Frederick of Sheboygan; niece, Tawnya Frederick of Sheboygan; great nieces, Jennifer (Nick) Kohl of Winnebago, IL and Julia Frederick of Sheboygan; great-great niece, Kailey of Winnebago; and many cousins. Also surviving is her beloved dog, Tequila. 

Shirley was predeceased by her mother, Leardina, father, Lawrence, and brother, John. 

There will be visitation from 10-11am on Saturday, August 20, 2016 with a Memorial Service following at 11:00am at the Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Galeton. Committal will follow. Pastor Keith Paris from River of Life Fellowship will officiate. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Shirley's memory be made to the Animal Care Sanctuary in Wellsboro or to the volunteer services at Soldiers & Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro.
