Austin Residents Pictured In Reading Eagle Story Today

Reading Eagle

Denny and Kim Cooney of Austin, Potter County, offer samples of Cooney's Mountain Mustard to a customer Friday at the Bowers, PA Chile Pepper Festival.

On Friday and again today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the 21st annual Bowers Chile Pepper Festival will again face the oppressive heat with ghost pepper sauces, jalapeno jellies, bacon bourbon barbecue garnishes and baked goods and fresh fruit and produce.

Denny and Kim Cooney of Austin, Potter County, have one of those homemade recipe stories for Cooney's Mountain Mustard.

"I never liked bitter mustard, so I would make my own sweet mustard," Denny said. "One of her friends took a basket of it into work and she came home with an empty basket and a handful of cash."

"That was that," Kim said. "We've been coming here since 2006."  Read more....see photo...

Reading is a beautiful area and the Reading Eagle is a historic paper, but I have heard they are considering printing the paper in Spanish.
