Maple Manor Variance Denied But Zoning Code Change To Be Considered In Bradford Township

Bradford Township planners propose code change for Maple Manor relocation

The Bradford Township Zoning Hearing Board is planning to recommend a township code change that allows for a drug and alcohol addiction treatment facility to operate in the municipality.

While the zoning hearing meeting on Wednesday involved the denial of a variance to allow Maple Manor, a 12-bed drug and alcohol addiction inpatient treatment facility in Port Allegany, to relocate to the former Heritage Suites site on Minard Run Road, members sustained a validity challenge to the township code.

That essentially means the board will have an opinion issued within 45 days that recommends a drug and alcohol addiction inpatient treatment facility be allowed to be located in that area of the township, indicated attorney Rick Brown, representing the zoning board.

And that also means the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Services Inc. is one step closer to moving to a new home.  Read more....
