Construction for Elk Run Road Bridge over Elk Run Complete

Bridge Replaced as Part of Public-Private Partnership
Montoursville, PA – The Route 3001 (Elk Run Road) bridge that spans Elk Run in Tioga County is complete and open to traffic. The bridge was replaced as part of the Pennsylvania Department Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.

The state-owned bridge in Gaines Township has been under construction since March 15 and opened to traffic today. The work was performed by Walsh Construction II.

The new crossing is longer and wider than the one it replaced and is designed with a 100-year lifespan.

The bridge replacements are part of the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, a Public-Private Partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP) under which PWKP will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years. As part of PWKP, Walsh/Granite JV will oversee construction. The P3 approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.
