Coudersport man accused of assaulting child

Bradford Era

COUDERSPORT — A Coudersport man was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Annette Easton on allegations he assaulted two juveniles.

Christopher Allen Popielarczyk, 35, of 2 Lower Lane, is charged with endangering the welfare of children, a third-degree felony; recklessly endangering another person and two counts of simple assault, all second-degree misdemeanors, court records stated.

Court records indicated the victims from both days included the 12-year-old girl, as well as a boy who was under the age of 18. However, because the victims’ names were redacted, it was unclear who allegedly suffered each alleged injury or whether anyone else was involved.

He drop-kicked someone, had a knife in his hand while assaulting someone, holding the knife in someone’s face and punching someone in the face.

Popielarczyk was released on $25,000 unsecured bail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 14. Read more...

What a pig!!!! Some people shouldn't be permitted to be around children. This is just sick.

I pray that CYS finally steps in and saves those children.

Just so everyone knows you should not be putting comments on here if the whole story is printed the correct way. From what I was told by different people he never put a knife in anyone's face or thretend harm. As for the other child who is under 18 has gone after other people in the house by himself with no one else's asstistance. So before you all go run your mouth about how bad of a person he is think about if this is the full store or only things people want everyone to hear. All anyone needs to know is any and all kids are safe.

To post 7:24. You just told the other two people who commented, not to be putting comments on here if they do not know the whole story. You yourself don't know the whole story. Were you there at the time of the incident ? No, your going off of hear say by different people you've been talking to. So how about you take your own advice ! Obviously something happened or he wouldn't have been arrested. People amuse me with how stupid they can be. Ps, learn to proof read before submitting your comment.

8:02. One word........ALCOHOL.......Look up crime statistics. Alcohol is the underlying factor in most crimes. The following is taken from the NCADD: Alcohol, more than any illegal drug, was found to be closely associated with violent crimes, including murder, rape, assault, child and spousal abuse: BUT...Drink up, the state needs the tax revenue: To build more jails and hire more police to fight: violent crimes, including murder, rape, assault, child and spousal abuse. Doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?

Every damned day, we read accounts of severe child abuse and worse, pedophile attacks on our children. Sometimes, there are 3 different accounts in the local small-town-newspaper, a day. CYS receives REPEATED reports concerning some children, yet, they do nothing but go in the home & stir up more trouble for the child then leave.
They actually prevent the abused child from getting help from loved ones & extended family. If you try to help the child, it will cost you 1,000's of dollars spent on an attorney. ASHAMED to be a part of such a community/society that doesn't even try to protect its weakest members. If you are not rich you can't help an abused child. Pennsylvania CYS should be ashamed of themselves. PA's kids deserve REAL help.
Our tax dollars should pay for a program that works or give the power back to the people who actually care about abused children- the extended family. These abusers are let go then the abused grows up to be an abuser. The problem therefore grows and grows to the epic proportions , we see today. CYS are demons in disguise. If you've ever had the displeasure of dealing with CYS, you already know that.

Pennsylvania, the child abuse state. That's what we're known for. These 'human services' organizations actually hinder, the abused from getting help. Often, these organization's workers are abusers of human rights, themselves. Those instated to help, do not help. Never forget Pennsylvania's "KIDS FOR CASH" schemes.
None of these human service depts. actually help people. The kids, elderly & disabled are 1st, hurt by their abusers then abused or ignored by the tax funded entities, set up to protect their safety. BUT if a loving grandparent tries to help an abused child by removing them from a horrible situation, Guess who goes to jail?
Who'll protect us from the 'protectors'? WHY aren't average people speaking out? Apathy towards such subjects is shameful and unforgivable. Protect our kids and other vulnerable citizens. Speak out about protecting Pennsylvania's kids. Please.

The person who spoke of alcohol being the root of much violence should be commended. Yeah, it's 'legal' but it still ruins many, many lives. Pharmaceutical drug abuse and booze are to blame for a lot of the ills society has today.
They make pot illegal and it has many healing properties and is safe. That's why the gov owns the patent on it and funds research on it.(schedule 1, my butt) The priorities of this entire country are screwed up.(big booze & big pharma lobby to keep pot illegal- it harms their corrupt profits)
Record numbers of citizens are giving up their citizenship to move to countries with saner & safer policies. Many, many more would leave if they could afford to. Corruption and evil seem to have taken over our once great and free country.
Our hearts ache for the demise of our fallen country.

Let's hope the system doesn't fail the family this time. Someone above me said it best when they said CYS in this state have failed everyone beyond belief. The system is beyond flawed and children pay dearly for it. Our mental health system is also to blame in this; alcoholism is a disease that too often is overlooked. We as a community need to speak up about these issues. We need to stop turning blind eyes to situations like this. Children deserve better and any of us ignoring situations like this are just as bad as the abusers themselves.

The neglect is not just in Potter County, McKean County is just as bad, one problem is there's not the foster homes to place these innocent little children

Unknown said...

It's funny how everone keeps saying foster care is the answer when most foster care homes are so much worse than regular homes cause if you all did your research you would know that most foster homes have been shut down because of abuse and neglect

Anonymous said...

I'm the one who mention foster homes, NOT every foster home is abusive, if CYS did their job, they would know which foster home is abusive n which one is not !

Im praying for these children

I know him and i hope they find him guilty and throw away the key he will never change it will only be a matter of time before he does it again
