First Annual Elk County Conservation District Photo Contest Elk County, PA

Winners announced for the 1st Annual Elk County Conservation District Photo ContestThe Elk County Conservation District was very pleased to have forty-four adult photos and eight student photos submitted for the first photo contest that the District held. The theme of the contest was Nature of Elk County and there were many interesting submissions from around the county. If you have not looked at the pictures, you can find all of them on our facebook page: Elk County (PA) Conservation District and you can even still like the photos if you wish.

The winning photos and photographers were announced on the Districts Facebook page early this morning. In the adult and student categories, the prizes are as follows: first place $50, second place $25, third place $15 and most Facebook LIKES $10. The voting by judges followed point scoring system with a set of guidelines specifically for a photo contest including originality, technical excellence, composition, artistic merit and overall impact.

Each contestant was permitted to submit up to five digital photos; some participants only sent in one photo, some entered five, and a few sent in two or three. The Conservation District was surprised to have fifty-two photos for the first year of the contest. If you missed the contest this year, we will hold another each year, so start snapping pictures for next year. The theme and rules for this year are posted on the Districts website ( and will be following a similar format next year.

Below is a list of the winners and their photos are on Facebook if you would like to use them in your article. Each photograph has the photographers name and it is expected if you use the photo at any point in time that you give credit to the photographer.
