Choir practice is Saturday, October 1st, at 10 am in the Christian Education building.

Theme of the fellowship dinner Sunday, October 2nd, at Saint Paul’s Lutheran church is 100 mile meal recognition of local agriculture. Try to create a dish using ingredients that come from within a one hundred mile radius of home, or from foods grown in local farms/gardens. Meal time is 5:30 pm.

Friend X Presbyterian ladies group meets Monday, October 3rd, at 1 pm in the Christian Education building.

Birthdays and anniversaries in the congregations were recognized today.

Pastor Tom recapped today’s scripture as “foundations for the future.” From Jeremiah 32: 1-3, 6-15, there was a siege occurring with immense destruction and everyone on edge.

Jeremiah criticized the king and was sent to jail.

He gathered his money and bought a field in a city that was nearly destroyed. Jeremiah was a person reaching out to the future with faith.

In 1Timothy 6: 6-19, the apostle Paul wrote if we have food and clothes it should be enough. Place hope in God who gives us everything for enjoyment.

Paul wrote there is great godliness in contentment and great gain when we live with it, and instructed Timothy to build up resources of heart, mind, and soul in his inner being.

The love of money is the root of all evil. Use it as a tool; do not love it more than God. Be liberal and generous in giving—do good works with money to lay up a foundation for the future.

As followers of Jesus, use money well.

Thanks to Jesus in the way he teaches us to have Christ-like money sense.
