Gene R. Polkosky, 71, of Galeton, PA, formerly of Willow Street

Gene R. Polkosky

Gene R. Polkosky, 71, of Galeton, PA, formerly of Willow Street, passed away Monday, September 5, 2016 at the Susquehanna Health Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro, PA following an unexpected illness.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Joseph J. Polkosky and Genevieve Bednarz Polkosky of Orlando, FL. He was the husband of Joyce E. Herr Polkosky. They celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary on October 2, 2015.

Following his technical school training he became a machinist at KD Tool Company and then became a mechanical technician for Pfizer in Lititz, PA until he retired in 2011. 

He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Columbia and Galeton, PA, the Riverside Club in Lancaster, and the Lancaster County Sportsman's Club. While living in Germania area, he was a very active member of the Kettle Creek Sportsman's Club, loved feeding the deer on his property and he also enjoyed all types of dancing.

Gene will lovingly be remembered by his wife, Joyce, his mother, Genevieve, his son, Steven, (Melanie) Polkosky of Memphis, TN, his stepsons: Brent Eshleman of York, PA, and Jason Eshleman of Somerset PA, his 2 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and his brother, Douglas, (Hilda) Polkosky of Orlando, FL.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to celebrate his life at the Groffs Family Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 528 West Orange and Pine Sts., Lancaster PA, on Friday September 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Chris Eden officiating. Interment will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, PA. The family will receive friends at the The Groffs on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
