PennDOT Opens Bids for Second CSVT Contract

Montoursville – On Friday, September 9, PennDOT opened bids for the second contract for the Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation Project.

Bids were opened for earthwork, drainage and structures for three miles of the northern portion of the project in Point and West Chillisquaque townships in Northumberland County. This includes 2.5 million cubic yards of earthwork, five structures, the Route 147 interchange at Ridge Road, the relocation of two side roads, and a stream relocation. This contract also includes tree clearing in Monroe Township, Snyder County, and Union Township, Union County.

The unofficial low bid of $61 million was submitted by Trumbull Corp. of Pittsburgh.

It was one of four bids submitted by private companies in the competitive bidding process.

Work is expected to begin in November, with completion in 2019.
PennDOT will review the bids and anticipates awarding a contract within a few weeks.

Bids for the remaining earthwork and bridges on the south side of the river that are part of the northern section of CSVT (the Winfield interchange area) are planned to be opened in the spring of 2017, with the paving contract following in 2020.

The southern section of the CSVT, which connects with the south end of the northern section, proceeds to an existing interchange with US 11/15 just north of Selinsgrove, is in final design. The southern section also includes an interchange/connector to US 11/15/PA 61 (Veterans Memorial Bridge).

The entire project is expected to be completed in 2024.
