BRADFORD, Pa. -- A multi-media program on “The Story of Rock City Park” will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

The program, which will take place in the Mukaiyama University Room in the Frame-Westerberg Commons, is sponsored by the Friends of Hanley Library and Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society.

Rock City Park, located on top of Rock City Hill, south of Olean, New York, has been a tourist destination in our own backyard since 1890, when a local rail system brought tourists to the park by trolley.

Rock City Park offers a majestic geological spectacle of enormous rock formations, scenic views, a museum, gift shop and hiking trails. The park’s prehistoric river system displays the world’s largest exposure of quartz conglomerate (also called puddingstone). The park attracts thousands of visitors yearly.

Park owners Cindy and Dale Smith will share the story of the park from its beginnings in the late 1800s to its current day status. Each person who attends the program will receive a complimentary admission pass to Rock City Park. The program is free and open to the public.
