PITT-BRADFORD TO HOLD 34TH ANNUAL LEAF DAY

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will hold its 34th annual Law Enforcement Awareness and Familiarization Day Sept. 21, giving people an opportunity to talk with law enforcement officers and learn more about what they do.

The program will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Frame-Westerberg Commons and is free and open to the public.

Participating agencies are Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, which will have an impaired/distracted driving simulator; Pennsylvania State Police; New York State Police; New York State Park Police; Pennsylvania Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement; Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Alcohol Education Bureau; McKean County Adult Probation; Bradford City Police; Bradford Township Police; U.S. Border Patrol; U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service;

Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission; Pennsylvania Game Commission; Children’s Advocacy Center of McKean County; YWCA Victims Resource Center of McKean County; Drug Enforcement Administration; Robert Rinfrette, K-9 Handler for the McKean County Drug Task Force and Cattaraugus County, N.Y.; McKean County District Attorney’s Office; and Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services.

LEAF Day was originally enacted by former Pitt-Bradford Chief of Police George Barron in 1981 to promote various law enforcement agencies and educate students on possible careers in diverse branches of law enforcement. Chief Dan Songer has since continued the tradition.
