Thompson Statement on Closing of DuBois Business College

Washington, DC –U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) today issued the following statement, upon learning that the DuBois Business College (DBC) will soon close its doors after 131 years of serving students and employers. In addition to the DBC main campus in DuBois, the school operates branch campuses in Huntingdon, Oil City and Philipsburg.

“DuBois Business College has served as a valuable resource that has aligned students with careers for more than a century. Today’s announcement is troubling, yet I have been reassured that students will be welcomed at other local institutions, in order to finish their studies.

“Situations like this are often complicated by over burdensome federal regulations that have been making it harder and harder for schools like DuBois Business College to operate. In addition to reigning in federal overreach, my commitment remains to closing the skills gap through workforce training and I stand ready to assist the community in identifying the best ways to provide quality educational opportunities for students, job-seekers and those looking to better their lives.”

Thompson, I sure wish there was someone (anyone) running against you. You are worthless and have been since day one! You, as with the others, are bought and paid for and it sucks! DuBois Community College is an asset to DuBois and well as the surrounding counties. What are you going to do? Sit on your thumb and let the Education Councils take everything away from the people? You lost this vote, not that it matters. You have lied to the people in your district time and time again. Now you're taking the backbone of DuBois away from them. Who paid for you????

keep giving tax cuts to wealthy and business and someone has to foot the bill.Bet he voted to cut the education funding. They want your kids uneducated to justify minimum wage. They have already raped the middle class to pay for their tax giveaways to the wealthy. If you look at his voting record you see he voted for all the trade deals that sent jobs offshore to line the pockets of the big investors on Wallstreet

Something is going on here because ITT Business Institutes, Cambria Rowe Business School in Johnstown and now Dubois Business College have ALL suddenly closed?? Something stinks and I'm guessing it has something to do with those federal regulations!

He is being challenged this year by Kerith Strano-Taylor, a Democrat from Brookville, whom he defeated in 2014. So, there is another option to GT.

I'm just wondering, what regulation(s) caused the closing? And where was our representative when all this was taking place? These things just don't happen overnight.

One wonders how many of the posters actually pay taxes?? Probably part of the 47% that pay nothing.

he is feeding you a line about regulations being the cause. Most of these so called education units popping up were for profit to get money from the fed gov thru fed loans and GI bill money with out getting jobs for the students. They were just taking the taxpayer for a ride
