I get the idea behind this . It's a great thing to have every year . But stretching it out into the country where they can't control the traffic without being a hazard to the bikers as well as the motorized traffic isn't the safest way this could be handled. All bunched up or strung out for a couple miles and riding in both lanes is rediculous . Sharing the road means both cars and bicycles should be sharing. If the event is necessary close the roads it's gonna be held on or hold it in town where the police and fire cops can regulate it .

You have obviously never watched this event take place. Police and fire police do control traffic through whole course. Escorts through whole race. Use only one lane. Very enjoyable to watch and participants seem to enjoy.

I beg to differ 10:00. I did not watch the event. I did however travel from east Smethport to Crosby and back several times on 46 during the event and from 6 & 46 to Galico the riders who weren't escorted by vehicles were all over both lanes of traffic .I am not dissing the event or the officials . Volunteers are awesome and the fabric of America . I'm only saying ,maybe have a few more people escort and keep the riders where they are suppose to be so there are less opportunity for problems to occur. God Bless these people who ride in the heat and the rain for a good cause. That's all I was trying to convey.
