Byron D. “Barney” SUTTON, Sr.

Byron D. “Barney” SUTTON, Sr., 77, of Eldred, PA, formerly of Lewisburg, PA and Potter County, PA, died Monday, October 17, 2016 in Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY. 

 Born February 10, 1939, in Whitesville, NY, he was the son of Robert Joseph and Lillian Hulse Sutton. On October 13, 1956, in Wellsville, NY, he married the former Marie O. Burrous, who survives. 

US Marine Corps Veteran

He served with the US Marine Corps. 

Barney was employed as an x-ray technician and boilermaker. 

He was a member of the Montandon Baptist Church. 

Surviving besides his wife, Marie, are: two sons, Robert J. (Kay) Sutton of Galeton, PA and Byron (Jeanne) Sutton, Jr. of Eldred; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five siblings, Maude (James) Goodenough of Gold PA, Charles (Charlotte) Sutton of Oswayo, PA, Lynn (Judy) Graves of Covington, PA, Linda (Roy) Thomison of Blossburg, PA, and Lucille Copp of Emporium, PA; nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by a son, Judson Sutton; and five siblings, Dorothy Nelson, Leo J. Graves, Louise Payne, Leon D. Graves, and Lowell T. Graves. 

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 22, 2016 in Riverview Cemetery, Potter Brook, PA. The Rev. John Prouty will officiate. 

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. 

Arrangements are entrusted to the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA.
