First Presbyterian and Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church of Galeton, 10-9-16

by Martha Pennell,

Germania Luncheon club meets Wednesday, October 12, at noon at Saint Paul’s Lutheran church; Pastor Tom Shatto will talk about beekeeping.

Mr. Dan Brelo will speak to our congregations about the Gideon’s Ministry during worship October 16th, and in their support an offering will be taken.

Session and Deacons meet jointly after worship that day.

Women’s Bible Study features Sarah at Saint Paul’s Lutheran church, Wednesday, October 19th, at 3 pm.

Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are available in the Sunday School room adjacent to the kitchen in the Christian Education building of First Presbyterian church; filled shoeboxes must be returned by Sunday, November 13th, 2016.

In his sermon, “Responsible Living,” Pastor Roger Wagner told us he is usually worry free.

Worry seems to be in our DNA, and it got there by sin.

When it entered our world it brought apprehension and anxiety.

For years Jeremiah told the people disaster was coming if they did not change their ways, but he knew they were not on their own; God would deliver them and make things right.

For now he told them to build, plant, marry, have children, and pray for Babylon’s well being (Jeremiah 29: 5-7).

Pastor Roger’s worry is our nation’s upcoming presidential election and for the future of the world. He said, “Do your best to show yourself to God” (2 Timothy 2: 15). Learn to live with dignity and maturity, do not panic and wring your hands. Our worry levels decrease appreciably if we believe God is here and is in control.

He calls the final shots, not human beings.

“What should we do?” Pastor Roger asked.

Build, plant, marry, pray, and live responsibly.

May God help us all!

Thank you, Martha. I share Pastor Wagner's concern, and my hope is in God also, and I pray for our country and this election.

Thanks again to Martha, and we share the same concerns as Kathy mentioned here.
Like Pastor Wagner said in message,we keep our faith in God while praying for all.
It is hard to actually believe the way news is unfolding, but must stay strong with faith, hope and love.
We awakened to another lovely autumn morning, and give thanks.
Blessings to all reading here, and again appreciate Martha keeping us all connected with weekly news.
