FRIENDS OF LYMAN RUN OPEN HOUSE

There will be an Open House at Lyman Run State Park from 4:00 - 5:30 pm on Saturday, October 8th at the Schott Pavilion located in the day use area of the park. This is a great opportunity to find out what the Friends of Lyman Run group is all about and to meet and greet many of the members. We will also be accepting new memberships for 2017.

The Friends of Lyman Run (FOLR) is a chapter or the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation which represents over 40 volunteer groups that work directly with our State Parks and State Forests. The groups do many kinds of projects including trail and beautification projects and also provide a great variety of family environmental education programs in the park. The FOLR this year sponsored the Annual Kid's Fishing Derby, Kite Flying Days, Dutch Oven Cooking Classes, Kayak Nature Tours of the lake and the annual Stars in the Arts Festival.

The group membership is open to anyone with a love of the outdoors and to those who care about what goes on in their park. The group works hand in hand with park management to help with the stewardship of the park's resources and to enhance the visitor's park experience. There are many levels of membership from Individual to Lifetime. Why not come out and enjoy the spectacular fall foliage at the park next Saturday and drop by the pavilion to see what FOLR is all about? Light refreshments will be available.

Following the Open House...FOLR members are reminded that our annual picnic will also be held at the pavilion (6:00 pm). Members are asked to bring a salad or dessert to pass..all other food will be provided. We will be treated to a chili and cornbread supper provided "Dutch Oven" style by FOLR volunteers John and Jan Halter. Beverage and table service will be provided but members are also asked to please RSVP to Paul Miller at pmiller7@gmail.com or by calling at 435-8731. Those members who plan to attend the open house are also asked to wear their FOLR tee-shirts if they have them...thanks!
