LOCAL AND STATE AGENCIES CONTINUE SEARCH FOR OVERDUE AIRCRAFT

Potter County-Lost Aircraft News Release

4:05 PM
Austin, PA – Numerous local and state agencies are working today to locate an aircraft which was reported as overdue last evening after failing to arrive at its destination airport in Saint Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

According to initial reports, the Federal Aviation Administration in Cleveland Center contacted the McKean County 911 Center last evening after they lost radar and radio contact with a small aircraft near Keating Summit, PA. The single engine Piper Cherokee airplane was flying from Richmond (VA) International Airport to St. Catharines Airport with 3 people on board when it changed course to avoid a thunderstorm. After the aircraft changed course, all contact with the aircraft was lost. Area fire departments and search and rescue teams combed the woods in the area for hours last night into early morning before regrouping to begin again after daylight.

The Civil Air Patrol has now taken command of the operation and they are joined by numerous local resources from Potter, McKean, Cameron and Elk Counties.

Regular briefings will occur throughout the operation as more information becomes available.

Can you please elaborate? My friends son was on that plane, it's very hard to be so far away and unable to help. The little bit of info that has come in so far has been so important to those supporting from afar.

A good friend was part of the search crew and I got a text from him.

IT's odd that the home base for this plane is showing that the plane with the C-GYSN tail # is showing that this plane landed at 8:52 pm I wonder why it shows it landed in St Catherines if it is missing? very odd.
Prayers for all involved.

I wondered the same thing, but there were three separate aircraft that departed from the same area. Two traveled together an hour or so behind the other. It appears the accident aircraft fell off radar at exactly 8:00pm local time. Very sad. God bless their souls!

Not sure what you read....but it's missing!

Why hasn't there been any news about them finding the plane?

To the person reporting the plane has been found and to the Searcher who text that information, would it not have been considerate on your part, and professional on your friend's part to wait to post your 'scoop' until families have been notified and public announcement has been made?

PLEASE pray for all involved in locating the plane , for the families who are waiting anxiously for news, and for good news.

It's very sickening that most of these comments were even allowed to be posted. Considering , the family that was here during the search and THIS is how they found out . It's not the fault of those commenting. But the fault of the one allowing the comments be posted until confirmations come from officials. Sickening.

Prayers for all !The plane is found in Keating Summit. Hope there is some good news.

My God Jim, I guess its all your fault.

Again, the searcher who texted the information cannot be considered an individual worthy of any emergency response. It is paramount in emergency situations that information is not shared, especially in cases such as this where the family has not been notified. And, the person posting here, I'm sure you are unaware of the hardship you have caused with the premature revelation until all facts had been collected in order to give the families accurate information from professionals equipped to assist them.

Wow !!!! You need to chill out, poor Jim gets blamed no matter if or if it is not his fault, Prayers for ALL
