WELLSBORO—The Nessmuk Rod and Gun Club is hosting a Block Shoot Sunday, Oct. 16 at its outdoor range at 4646 Route 287, 3 miles south of Wellsboro.

Registration for club members and non-club members will be at 12:30 p.m. with the matches to start at 1 p.m. and end at 4 p.m.

Competitors can use any 12-gauge shotgun. Scopes are permitted. Only ammunition provided by the club can be used during the shoot.

All shooters must be in the standing position without the aid of a brace or strap. Eye and ear protection must be worn by the shooters and by spectators near the range. Shooters will approach the range with an unloaded firearm; the action must be in the open position. All firearms will be brought to the range with the action open and remain that way until competitors are on the shooting line and given the command to load and fire.

The card stock targets measure 5½ by 5½ inches square with an "X" in the center. They will be hung from stands at 30 yards. One shot per card will be scored. Shooters may enter two cards per round. The closest shot to the center of the "X" will win the round. A maximum of two wins per shooter per event date will be allowed.

The fee is $3 for each target with a two-target limit per round.

Prizes for each round will be split 50/50 between the winner and the Nessmuk Rod and Gun Club.
