Richard A. Miller
Richard A. Miller, 59, of 126 Jackson Road, St. Marys, PA, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016, at his residence, after a long illness.
He was born January 17, 1957, in Olean, NY, son of the late Gerald and Thelma Harvey Miller.
He was a graduate of Port Allegany High School, Class of 1975, and in 1979 he graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education, majoring in Biology.
He was a resident of St. Marys since 1980 and was a teacher in the St. Marys Area School District for 35 years.
On August 4, 1984, in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Vicki Ginther, who survives.
He is also survived by a daughter, Andrea Miller at home; a son, Bradley Miller and his wife Diana of York, PA; a grandson, Logan Miller; two brothers, Gilbert M. Miller and his wife Mary Ann and James Harvey and his wife Betty, both of Port Allegany; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Carol Smith Ginther of St. Marys; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Rick was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, where he served on the parish council, and was a member of the Port Allegany Moose Lodge #460.
He enjoyed nature and being outdoors and was active in the Envirothon Club at St. Marys Area High School, achieving State Champion one year. He was an environmentalist for Black Moshannon State Park for many years and served as a US Army Corps Ranger at East Branch Lake for seven summers. Rick was proud that he was an honest person.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 9:30 AM, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, Pastor, officiating.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, October 7, 2016, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
