Van Wagner, songwriter, historian and Pennsylvania logger will present “Tall Timber” on Saturday, October 8, at 2:00 PM, during the First Fork Festival at Sinnemahoning State Park.
Wagner’s “Tall Timber” program celebrates the past and present of the Pennsylvania timber industry. A little bit of music, a little bit of laughter, and lot of culture make this unique educational program a reminder of why we should be proud to be from the Timber Country of Pennsylvania.
Van Wagner, a native of the Danville area, has worked for Daniel Logging in Idaho as well as on many independent logging projects in Pennsylvania. His songs have been performed all over the world and have been featured in several film productions. Enjoy this unique program as Wagner takes you on a journey through Pennsylvania's timber heritage.
Wagner’s entertaining program reviews the past, present and future of Pennsylvania's Timber heritage and covers how timber was harvested over the past several centuries and most importantly WHO harvested it. Wagner demonstrates dozens of tools spanning 200 years of logging history. His engaging presentation will delight audiences of all ages.
The First Fork Festival at Sinnemahoning State Park features local authors, artists and artisans showcasing their talents amidst a backdrop of full autumn color in the Pennsylvania Wilds. Other musical guests for the festival include the Ron Tusing & Father Paul band, performing from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, and the Mountain Melodies from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
Scheduled demonstrations and hands-on interpretive activities throughout the day, make this festival fun for the entire family. This community-focused admission-free event takes place at the Sinnemahoning State Park Office and Wildlife Center, just off Route 872 in Grove Township, on Saturday, October 8, from 12 noon to 5 PM.
