I've applied left and right, had interviews at various districts and haven't had any luck yet. I've always been in opposition to teacher's unions. Fire them all and hire individuals like me. I can handle my own contract.

fire all them sons-a- bitches, they make more money now than they're worth. All they do is brainwash kids anyways.

Anonymous said...

9:54 who's responsible for brainwashing you?

Money grubbers should feel lucky that they have a job. I say put them all to work on a gas rig or road crew for few weeks and then they'll be glad to go back to their classrooms.

They should all be fired and fined for truancy. These are adults using children's learning as a weapon to get what they want they should be ashamed of themselves.

They are union workers, if all you bashers dont understand it talk to a union worker. Unions stand up for workers maybe you should try joining one, this is America you do have the right to do so.

Say what you will about the teachers but WCD is more at fault here than anyone. They spent millions to relocate two elementary schools only a few miles down the road. They moved Russell elementary to Eisenhower school. The Russell school was in beautiful condition and completely remodeled in the early 2000s. They then move Allegheny Valley Elementary to the Sheffield Junior/ Senior high school and abandoned the building, which was another very nice school. Senseless spending especially when they poured, (and still are) pouring millions into at least 4 other of their schools for major overhauls.

All unions do is push the liberal democrats agenda for votes ! And their huge payouts ! Unions are hurting our children's education but that doesn't matter ! over all unions have taken down a huge part of the economy in the US.

Teachers get paid more than most, work 9 months out of the year and demand raises constantly. Meanwhile, our children suffer with a lack luster education system that shows no signs of improving. Anywhere else, if you produce poor results, you don't get a raise or bonus, teachers should not be any different.

Unions suck

It's because of people like you that all jobs are going to China. Thanks for voicing your opinion.

Unions are not the answer anymore. Period. People are getting too greedy. In times like this people should be happy they have a job. We are not a productive country anymore.

I keep waiting for someone to point out these points:
--The teachers' union (which they call the "education association" so they don't mention the U-word) is the most powerful labor syndicate in Pennsylvania, paying significant legalized bribes to influential lawmakers.
--Public school teachers in Pennsylvania, by labor union contract, have 180 days off per year. They work by contract 185 days.
--It is unethical and fundamentally wrong for any employee who has the exceptionally strong advocacy of union protection to also have "incompetence protection," which is known by its less offensive name of "tenure."
--Basing teacher compensation on longevity without proven competence is ridiculous and definitely not in students' best interests.
These are facts. Some criticisms are unfounded or based on jealousy or a lack of appreciation for the importance of dedicated, competent teachers for our children's development and our state's well-being. I salute them and do wish they could be better compensated while the less dedicated and less competent teachers weren't able to ride their coattails.

I'm on welfare and damn proud of it! Can I go on strike so I get better quality free stuff? I deserve a better standard of living and I don't intend on working for it.

9.05-----You are so Right! Try to get rid of a teacher who is incompetent and has tenure! I have also been told by more than one teacher that the early retirement available for teachers is actually providing a better way of living when they no longer Work! Six or seven hours of so-so production in our tax payer system is a travesty. If you think you deserve more pay, do the job for which we, as taxpayers are supporting, in such a manner that results in a decent education, even in a rural area.

Spend a year working as a teacher & then tell me that you only work 9 months out of the year

Your taxes bought the pencils and notebooks your kid keeps forgetting to bring to class or lost 4 times. Hold him accountable instead of pushing for promotion so he can stay with his friends. Go do a teachers job, half you a$$es wouldn't last a week.

Don't forget the 3-4 nights per week correcting papers, calling parents to set up meetings that you blow off, spend hours after school coaching without seeing my own family, answer your questions in the store when all I wanted was some milk, go to school in the summer to keep my certification, wake up at night a jot down ideas on how to help your kids learn because I do care when you don't care to read the letters I send home because you ask questions that the letter answered. The problem with education starts with each of you. These are your children, they are ultimately your responsibility. You teach them and give them a base and we will do the rest, but come to the meetings get involved, shadow a teacher who gets ready for 20+ bodies and keeps their attention in 8 subjects all day with 35 to prepare each day. If you are not willing to do this , you what you all can do.

7.56-8.04------For one thing, most stares don't supply pencils and notebooks, the parents also must supply, paper towels, 2 dozen pencils 10 glue sticks etc, etc, etc. The amount of money involved is upwards of 50-60 dollars. Ask someone who has a different school policy. Class size, there was a time when class size averaged 35,40 and more without any aides, which are now supplied. You knew how much you would make as a teacher,(a whole lot for 185 days a year) when you CHOSE to work only 185 days.Blah, blah, blah, the system is nuts as it is. Put in a years work, and then maybe bargin for a raise! What a bunch of S---!

Yeah who cares about them teachers, dang entitled millionaires in their mansions, making the big bucks for sipping coffee and playing videos all day

Jaughn Eggandflour said...

Fine the level of taxes you pay is the equivalent to the amount spent buying 1 student a years worth of pencils, notebooks, cap erasers, and writing tablets. Plus I also buy supplies for my wife's class and they aren't my kids, and I pay taxes. How much were your taxes? Do you even know?

Sloe Moe said...

So union supporters....answer this one. If the Union is suggesting that the Warren County teachers go on strike, then why aren't all teachers in the state going on strike? Union brothers and sisters stick together...right? I'm calling BS on the union support for teachers and in this country in general. Unions had there day and time back before there were labor laws and regulations. Nowadays they are just there to falsely inflate under qualified workers salaries. Like I aid before.......work a week of 12 on , 12 off on the rigs and see what a real job is like or go back to your class room and quit whining about having to buy pencils.

Jaughn Eggandflour said...

Let me track the amount of time I spend this year and I'll get back to you. What's your address so I can stop by on your free time?

Jaughn Eggandflour said...

Is drilling the only real work? Stand in front of 25 six year old kids and teach them to spell their name, recognize numbers, watch some come to school exhausted because daddy got drunk after his 12&12 and beat his kid who just wanted a hug, watch him take a pack of crackers at lunch because it will be a dinner for him. Be glad you don't know what I do about you and your neighbors kids. Work your 12&12, and I will keep raising your child, and in some cases praying he comes back to school without bruises. You will never see the light in his eye when he understands , or dry his tears when he is frustrated ..... But I will.
