Commissioner Eric Hussar Elected as Board Vice President

Commissioner Eric Hussar Elected
as Board Vice President
HARRISBURG, Pa. (Nov. 18) – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) Board of Commissioners elected Eric Hussar (right, top) as vice president during a special meeting held today at the Harrisburg headquarters.
Commissioner Hussar represents the Fifth District, which covers Bradford, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga, and Union counties.
The position became vacant last month after President Glade Squires resigned from the board and Vice President Rocco Ali (right, bottom) assumed the presidency. Ali represents the Second District, which covers Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.
“I am proud to serve as interim president for this outstanding Commission,” President Ali said in opening the meeting. “I will give 110 percent to achieve the goals of our Commission, thus allowing us to continue to serve the anglers and boaters of this Commonwealth. I hope we as a Commission will meet and exceed the expectations of our license buyers.”
President Ali said he would pursue the following goals during his term as interim president:
  • Continue to work on legislation to allow the agency to set its own fees;
  • Continue to evaluate the infrastructure and condition of hatcheries;
  • Encourage the Governor’s Sportsmen’s Advisor and Sportsmen’s Advisory Board to fill vacancies on the Commission board;
  • Encourage continued discussion of the Steelhead Program, and include Ohio and New York in those discussions;
  • Seek out and implement creative ways to increase license sales, being cognizant of return on investment; and
  • Continue to have all PFBC-owned high-hazard dams fixed.
President Ali and Vice President Hussar will serve until new officers are elected at the Commission’s July 10-11, 2017, quarterly business meeting.
