First Presbyterian choir rehearses Saturday, December 3rd, at 10 am in the Christian Education building.

Deacons of First Presbyterian church meet after worship Sunday, December 4th; at 4 pm is the fellowship meal at Saint Paul’s Lutheran church.

Pastor Tom expounded on the scriptures for the First Sunday in Advent. Isaiah 2: 4-5 (he shall judge between the nations, they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks, nation shall not lift up sword against nation).

Pastor Tom said for 2800 years generations have read and heard about a pilgrimage of going back to Jerusalem to be instructed by God, to hear his vision of the world that instruments of combat will become eating utensils and gardening tools.

In Psalm 122, from pilgrimage to Jerusalem, people all over the world can open their lives to God’s vision. The focus is the peace of Jerusalem. From 300 BC to the birth of Jesus, over 400 battles in and around Jerusalem took place.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, that the vision of God may take place and people have peace in life. The apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans (13: 11-14) we must put on the armor of light and live right to prepare for the kingdom of God.

Pastor Tom told us it is all around us and we are invited to be part of it. Striving to do the right things and living right are part of our pilgrimage to the manger. No one knows when the son of man comes (Matthew 24: 36).

Our pilgrimage continues.

When Jesus comes to judge the earth we want to be ready. Practice living right. We are a pilgrimage people!
