DuBois, PA – As part of a statewide Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and local law enforcement agencies in Clearfield and Elk Counties held a media event today at Pizza Hut in DuBois. This kick-off event is in anticipation of the busy travel periods throughout central Pennsylvania.
During the enforcement initiative, from November 21 - December 4, Pizza Hut representatives will hand out seat belt safety information for adults and children. The information given is vital for motorists and passengers traveling during the Thanksgiving holiday, Black Friday shopping, and deer season.
The Pizza Hut locations participating in this initiative include: Mill Hall, Bellefonte, State College, St. Marys, Clearfield, Philipsburg, Brookville, DuBois, Grove City and Clarion. All are owned by ARC Restaurant LLC.
As part of the national CIOT mobilization, 150 Pennsylvania law enforcement agencies across the state will participate in an effort to increase seat belt use and reduce the number of unbelted injuries and deaths.
PennDOT data for 2015 shows that statewide, 413 people who were killed in crashes were not wearing their seat belts.
This enforcement is made possible in part through PennDOT’s statewide distribution of federal enforcement funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
