Public Open House Planned for McKean County Bridge Projects

Bridges to be replaced as part of Public-Private Partnership

Bradford, PA – The community is invited to a public meeting regarding the replacement of five McKean County bridges included in the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. The meeting will be focused on important information including the construction schedule and traffic changes that are planned to take effect while the bridge(s) are being replaced.

Outlined below are details of the bridges to be replaced and the public meeting.

Bridges: Route 6 (E. Main Street) bridge, spanning Marvin Creek in the village of Hazelhurst (JV-57)

Route 6 (S. Marvin Street) bridge, spanning Warner Brook in the village of Marvindale (JV-58)

Route 46 (Emporium Road) bridge, spanning Havens Brook in Norwich Township, about three miles southeast of the village of Betula (JV-59)

Wilcox Clermont Road (SR 2001) bridge, spanning Seven Mile Run in Sergeant Township, just south of the village of Williamsville (JV-71)

W Branch Road (SR 2002) bridge, spanning the west branch of Potato Creek near the village of Betula in Norwich Township (JV-72)

Meeting
Location: Hamlin Township Office, 22 Park Road, Hazel Hurst PA 16733

Meeting
Date: Tuesday, November 22, 2016 beginning at 4:30 p.m.

A presentation will be given at the start of the meeting, promptly at 4:30 p.m. Following, representatives from Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners will be available to discuss the bridge projects and answer questions. Construction plans will be on display for reference.

These bridges are referred to as JV-57, JV-58, JV-59, JV-71, and JV-72. They are three of 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.

These bridge replacements are part of the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, a public-private partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP), under which PWKP will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years. The P3 approach allows PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly, while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.
