Virginia Lou Knowlton, 81, a resident of Midland City, AL, Former Portville Resident

Virginia Lou Knowlton, 81, a resident of Midland City, AL, died Friday (Nov. 11, 2016) at her residence. Mrs. Knowlton has been in Midland City for the past 10 years, having moved here from Portville, N.Y. 

She worked at Bolivar (N.Y.) IGA in the bakery and loved to spend time with her family cooking and baking. Mrs. Knowlton was also fond of crochet. 

Mrs. Knowlton is preceded in death by her parents, Max and Ethel Crainer; daughter, Kathy Jo Smith; stepdaughter, Mollie Boswell; brother, William Crainer; daughter-in-law, Sandy Pinney Knowlton.

Survivors include her husband, Charles "Shorty" Knowlton; a sister, Beverly (Ron) Woods of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Terry Crainer of Bolivar; her children, Charles (Connie) Knowlton III of Bolivar, Linda (Terry) Lowe of Midland City, Gary (Bonnie) Knowlton of Allegany, N.Y., Dave Knowlton of Dothan, Sally (Kevin) Nutt of Cuba, N.Y., Terri (Roy) Rogers of Allegany, Mary (Walt) Vaughn of Little Genesee, N.Y., and Beverly (Scott) Drum of Freeville, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Lauretta (Coy) Richardson of Elba; and more than 80 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Friends are invited to gather for a celebration of her life at 5 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 15, 2016) at the Allegany Community Center. A dinner will be served.
