New Legislative Session Begins Tuesday, Jan. 3
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives will begin the 2017-18 Legislative on Tuesday, Jan. 3, when members take the oath of office. The ceremony will begin at noon
and also will include the adoption of House rules, election of the
Speaker of the House and a joint session with the state Senate to
certify election results. Live streaming of the entire ceremony will be

at this year’s Pennsylvania Farm Show. The event, which takes place at
the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, kicks off on Saturday, Jan. 7, and continues through Jan. 14.
The largest indoor agricultural
exposition in the nation, the Farm Show features 6,000 animals, 10,000
competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibitors. It emphasizes the
importance of agriculture in daily life, highlights the latest in ag
technology and advancements and offers attractions for all ages.
Admission to the show is free, and parking is $15 per vehicle. Shuttle service is provided.
Veterans Assistance Available
Veterans service officers will be
available in my Coudersport and Bradford offices in January to assist
veterans and their family members with issues such as compensation,
education, pension, health care and death benefits. The schedule is as
Thursday, Jan. 5, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
– Dan Falls of the American Legion will be at the Coudersport office,
107 S. Main St. Appointments are required and should be made by calling 814-274-9769.
Monday, Jan. 9, 1-3 p.m.
– Melissa Davis of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will be at the
Bradford office, 78 Main St. No appointments are necessary.
Service hours at the Kane office are
canceled in January due to the New Year’s holiday and will resume in
