Coudersport Rotary 2016-2017 Dictionary Project

L-R - Rotary President, Cathy Bowers; Elementary School Principal, Sean Reams; and Rotary Secretary, Ruth Sallade
Yesterday a "Sticker Party" held at the Coudersport Elementary School provided a refreshing break to a busy day. Rotarian, Ruth Sallade and Club President, Cathy Bowers spent a couple of hours placing the Rotary Emblem, Four Way Test, and Rotary information stickers in each dictionary that every 3rd grade student will receive. Pictured with Rotarian, Ruth Sallade and Cathy Bowers is Elementary School Principal, Sean Reams.

In third grade, students are beginning to learn word and dictionary skills. Rotary provides every 3rd grade student with a dictionary to own and take home. These children will keep the dictionaries with them, either at home or in school, to develop the very important word skills required of all students. Dictionaries are very useful to all students and more specifically to English Language Learning. In addition, having a dictionary the student, and parents and guardians will be in a better position to assist with their child’s homework. In doing so, they will also become more competent learners and teachers of their child.

In January 2017, the 3rd grade students will receive their own dictionaries to take home and use at school.
